Until We Are Gone, an all-new
Standalone Emotional Romance by Gia Riley is NOW LIVE!!

ScreenHunter_310 May. 30 06.45

I wanted a family with Cash.

We had dreams –building a house, kids, a dog, and, yes, even the white picket

Or so I’m told.

I don’t remember anything about my husband. Not the wedding or the vows we

The past ten years were erased and with time, they’re supposed to come back.

But this isn’t your typical case of amnesia

What if I’m not supposed to remember?

What if I was meant to forget?

Maybe I don’t want my old life back.

Because if the accident hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have uncovered the truth.

Losing my memory wasn’t tragic.

Losing my memory was fate.

This is a multipe POV book. The viewpoints are indicated at the beginning of the chapters and really work for Until We Are Gone as we need to see the situations from the perspectives of more than one of the books characters.

This book opens up to a powerful scene. Meadow is coming out of a coma after an accident and it quickly becomes apparent that she has lost a significant part of her memory, this includes bereavements and her entire relationship with her husband Cash.

The story then jumps forward 6 months into the future and opens through Cash’s viewpoint and experiences. In an attempt to cope and escape from the pain, confusion and pressure Meadow has turned to alcohol, by this point in the story she is an alcoholic and Cash is at the end of his tether. He want’s his wife back!

Cash wants back the woman he married and seems willing to do everything in his power to get her back.

This isn’t your average love story. As the story goes on we see a darker side to Meadow and Cash’s situation.  As the story develops there is a surprise that is both heartbreaking and happy at the same time. The characters are at times frustrating and not particularly likeable but given the nature of the book that is exactly how it should be.

This is a romance with a difference. Hugely emotional and with a definite taste of suspense and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Thank you to Gia Riley and Social Butterfly PR for granting me an ARC copy of  Until We Are Gone. This is my honest review.

I read the synopsis for Jar of Hearts and had an instant ‘Ooh, I need to read that’ moment. Was I disappointed? No, my fellow book lovers, I was not.

Fast paced and incredibly intense, dark, suspense filled and exciting, this psychological thriller offers everything that you could want from the genre.

The majority of the story is told from Georgia’s perspective but this a the dual POV with Kaisers thoughts also included.

The plot is so well written, it changes perspectives and sometimes this can make you feel dizzy, this was not the case with Jar of Hearts . The transitions are smoothly done.

The character development is fabulous, I loved the pacing. (Regular readers of my blog will know how important pacing is for me)

Sometimes we read a book and identify with the characters. I did not identify with the characters but this is no problem here as the characters are so interesting.

This has been a  hard review to write as I do not want to reveal anything that I think you would enjoy reading first hand. Not spoilers, but the regular ‘Hold your breath’ moments that occur.

This psychological thriller will keep you turning pages long after bed-time and even though you may work out some aspects, there are others that will side swipe you and the ending was surprising (For me, this genre needs to be surprising and if it is obvious then the book fails in it’s ultimate objective)

There is plenty of information in the synopsis to tell you if this is the book for you, all I will say is that this book is better than the synopsis suggests and I was gripped by just the synopsis.

Well I hope that you have enjoyed my review that was intentionally vague about the story but rich in the necessary information.

I was given an arc copy of this book by Atlantic Books and NetGalley. This is my honest review.

The Bite That Binds- Suzanne Wright – Audiobook Review.

ScreenHunter 18

It’s just over a week until Sam will be Binding with Jared, and the only thing she wants is to spend that time relaxing and preparing for the ceremony. Unfortunately, she seems to be asking too much of fate, because suddenly she’s lumbered with a number of distractions that have the potential to postpone, or even cancel, the Binding. There’s a guarded fiancé to crack, a complicated assignment to deal with, Jared’s ex to alienate, and a bunch of snobbish Master Vampires to win over – or offend, whichever. On the upside, things couldn’t possibly be any worse, could they?

Actually, yes they could. Due to a cruel twist of fate, something strange is happening to Sam –something that is changing her in ways she doesn’t like or understand. With the help of Jared and those closest to her, she has to not only handle the threats to the Binding Ceremony, but find a way to fix what has been done to her – and fast.

Warning: This book contains a stubborn and occasionally homicidal female vampire, a powerful and overprotective male vampire who refuses to lose her, and scenes of a sexual, explicit nature.

Story: 5

Narration: 5

Overall: 5

This is the second book in the Deep in Your Veins series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are a wonderful mix of good, evil and somewhere in between.
Suzanne Wright has penned a series that is equally strong in both plot and characters. The romance and steamy moments are mixed with suspense, danger and adventure. The regular sarcasm and humour adds to the balance. This seems to be a talent of Suzanne wright’s as it has been present in the other books of hers that I have read/ Listened to.

Justine Eyre, P.J. Ochlan, the female and male narrators give us the same outstanding level of voice acting that we were introduced to in Here Be Sexist Vampires.

As a fan of The Monkeewrench Series, I was very excited to read this, the 9th instalment in the series. Initially started by the hugely talented mother and daughter duo P.J. and Traci Lambrecht (and carried on by Traci after her mother passed away)

Every previous book that I have read in this outstanding thriller series has managed to catch me off guard and keep me guessing and this one was no exception. With a fabulous wealth of interesting characters and a fast paced, intricate story-line that kept me on the edge of my seat and anxious to know what happens next.

After an apparent suicide of well connected businessman, Gregory Norwood (on the first anniversary of his sons death) is discovered to be murder  Magozzi and Rolseth are asked to discreetly look into the matter.

Meanwhile the Monkeewrench team (Computer Geniuses, one of whom Grace, is in a relationship with Magozzi) are asked by the FBI to design some software to assist them in thwarting a possible terrorist attack.

As you can imagine, this is a ‘fly by the seat of your pants’ thriller that maintains it’s fast pace and reunites us with the wonderful characters that this series has produced. Darkly intense and fabulously written I highly recommend reading The Guilty Dead. (If you are not already farmiliar with this series then it would be a good idea to start with the first installment, Want To Play aka Monkeewrench that we have previously reviewed.

I was given an arc copy of The Guilty Dead by Penguin UK – Michael Joseph and NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Claire is working as a temptation for a firm of divorce lawyers. Her job? to test whether a husband will be unfaithful should the opportunity arise with a beautiful woman. When the wife of one of Claire’s subjects is murdered the police enlist her to lure a confession from him but all is not what it seems.

Believe Me by JP Delaney is a completely absorbing thriller that will keep you guessing. Incredibly tense and intense this book will really have you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing.

I spent the majority of this book confused but I was confused in a good way.

The writing style was not my favourite but that is personal choice, the is a lot of dialogue which was necessary due to the story, but I didn’t find it entirely enjoyable to read. However I can cope with this for such an intense read that managed to surprise me.

I received a copy of this book from Quercus Books and Net Galley. This is my honest opinion.

Breaking Mr. Cane (Cane 2) by Shanora Williams. Excerpt and Review.

Breaking Mr. Cane, the gripping, steamy follow up to the bestselling forbidden romance, Wanting Mr. Cane, from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shanora Williams is available NOW!

I was left broken, my heart beating a little bit harder in order to survive. I’d tried picking up the pieces, but when it came to Cane, it was hard to let go.

The way we touched was special and we promised to never forget one another. I had him right in the palm of my hand–thought everything was perfect–but in the blink of an eye, he was gone, leaving me with no choice but to pretend that what we had never existed.

She was off-limits to me, but I pushed the boundaries anyway. Now, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place, my career slowly but surely slipping out of my grasp, and ghosts from my past returning to make things much more complicated.

My love life had never meant so much to me until I met Kandy.

After being knocked down and left stranded, any sane man would have stayed far away, but I wasn’t sane–not by a long shot.

I knew reality was harsh, and the universe had all the odds stacked against us. Despite it all, nothing was going stop me from making her mine again.

And if someone tried, they were going to have to go over my dead body first.

Like he’d promised, he was waiting for me up front. He was standing in front of the exit with his hands tucked in his pockets and a pair of sunglasses covering his eyes, like he’d just arrived. I spotted him before he could see me, and my heart sped up several notches the closer I got.

Seeing him, reminded me of when I was a little girl and was looking at him for the first time. Though I was hopeless, the sunglasses shielding his eyes and his bad boy demeanor did something to me—whirled me up inside and drove me crazy.

He looked around for a moment like he could feel someone watching him, and when he was facing my direction, he put on a warm, welcoming smile, pulling the sunglasses off. He opened his arms and I dragged my suitcase on it’s wheels, rushing into them.

I hugged him hard and squeezed so tight. This hug was exactly what I needed. No questions, just outpouring love. My parents would have hounded me first, questioned me later, and maybe hug me after making the same “mistake” twice. And that was a big maybe. But Cane was no mistake. He couldn’t be.

Why would he have been brought into my life, if we weren’t meant to be something?

It didn’t make any sense.

There had to be a reason for this.

There had to be happiness at the end of our story.

Ok. wow. This book picks up directly from where Wanting Mr Cane left off so if you haven’t read that yet and this series appeals to you then step away from the review because this review is spoiler central about book 1 in the Cane series.

This book is a lot darker than Wanting Mr Cane and it deals with some intense subjects such as child and spousal abuse (which was briefly covered in Wanting Mr Cane but becomes more relevant in Breaking Mr Cane), drug and alcohol abuse and mental health issues.

This book begins with Kandy and Cane’s forbidden romance out in the open after the evil Kelly sent a pen drive containing a recording of them in a compromising position to her parents (and had many other copies made.) She had kept her crazy under a bushel for most of Wanting Mr Cane but throughout this book Cane is under no illusion of the type of person that she is.

Kandy goes off to college knowing that her father is devastated, he mother isn’t much better and Cane is hospital after her father attacked him. She tries to throw herself into college life, meeting new people and going through the motions of having fun but inside it is a different story.

I don’t want to go any further into book details because this really is a corker of a novel and it deserves to be read and enjoyed.

This series has taken a different course to the one that I anticipated when I picked up Wanting Mr Cane but it is different in a good way. More intense, more intricate and more than a ‘taboo romance’ I didn’t see coming most of what happens in this impressive roller-coaster. (well roller-coaster if they could also go sideways. It’s really more of a spin cycle and you never know what direction the story is going to take!)

One word of warning: Shanora Williams does like to leave you hanging and desperate to get your hands on the next instalment. I consider this both a good and bad thing. I am inpatient by nature but if the next instalment is as amazing as the first two then it will be worth the wait!

Thanks to Shanora Williams and Social Butterfly PR for granting me an ARC copy of Breaking Mr Cane. This is my honest review.

“That and taking a bullet for you is my job. I do it well. You must believe that, too, or you would have hired someone else.”
“You are one stubborn man. My grandfather’s mules could take
lessons from you. I’ll be out in ten minutes.” She whirled around and headed for her bathroom in the back, then shut the door.
Cutter couldn’t stop the smile from creeping across his face. Had
Shealyn just compared him to an ass?
He’d decided she had when she emerged in a gauzy white dress trimmed in lace that accentuated the hint of gold in her sun-kissed skin. The thin straps clung to the tips of her shoulders, as if threatening to slip down at any moment, and played peekaboo with her blond tresses. The garment stretched tight across her breasts, the three little buttons keeping the bodice shut threatening to pop if she made a too-
sudden move. The flimsy thing also ended well above her knees and, with her white cowboy boots, framed her sleek thighs.
Cutter felt his thoughts evaporate and his tongue go dry. The rest of him turned stone hard. He shouldn’t think twice about Shealyn as a woman, but so far, that seemed to be asking the impossible.
“You’re wearing that?”
She cocked her head at him. “What’s wrong with it? Or are you suggesting this dress is somehow dangerous?”
Her challenge and sass turned him on even more. Hell, everything about her did.
But he was way out of line. The dress portrayed precisely the image she’d cultivated. It was sweetly sexy. Wearing it, Shealyn looked like a gorgeous siren with western flair… and a hint of innocence. The problem—and obviously all the lust—was his alone.
“I’m making you aware that you may attract unwanted male attention in public. But I’ll handle it,” Cutter promised, meeting her gaze and doing his best to shutter the desire burning through his blood.
She stared back, a hint of a smile playing at her lips. “You think I’ll attract male attention, huh?”
Was she fishing for compliments? Her green eyes danced with something he couldn’t put his finger on. Mischief? Flirtation? No. Why would she come on to him when she was already in a high-profile relationship? Shealyn didn’t strike him as one of those women who got off on yanking a man’s chain. Then again, he didn’t know her well.
Whatever she was up to, he couldn’t rise to her bait.
“Ms. West?” He kept his voice as inflectionless and polite as possible.
“Mr. Bryant.” Another hint of playful dare rang in her tone.
“I told you, it’s Cutter.”
“All right. Cutter.” She damn near sighed his name. “You going to answer my question?”
What the hell did she want him to say? Some reckless part of him he’d sworn he didn’t possess itched to simply show her, cross the half- dozen steps between them, take that wisp of a garment in his grip, and tear it off. Once he’d exposed every inch of her body, he would love to put his hands on her, his mouth on her, so she understood what a dress like that did to him. Hell, what she did to him.
A sudden pounding on the door broke the moment between them.
“You ready yet?” Tower shouted from outside.
Despite the man’s insistence, she didn’t move to admit him or even answer. She just stared Cutter’s way. “I’m waiting.”
Cutter searched for a discreet reply. “The dress reveals more skin than it hides. It might give a man the wrong idea.”
“What idea is that?”
The kinds of ideas racing through his head with juggernaut speed and jetting blood south to his cock. “That he can touch you. That he can have you.”
“Is that what this dress makes you think?”
The flash of her eyes and the husky voice she used to ask the question torqued him up. She was definitely fishing for his reaction. Was she hoping he bit because she needed the ego stroke… or was she baiting her hook and tossing it his way because she was actually hoping to reel him in?
“What I think about the dress doesn’t matter.”
“Then why does it bother you? You saw me in less on set.”
Oh, he’d seen her damn near naked. Hour after hour of exposed skin had taunted him with all the beauty a country boy like him would never have the right to possess. But this dress appealed to his deepest fantasies. She looked wholesome yet sensual, a woman aware of her appeal. A female who knew exactly what she wanted in her man…

Review By Tasha

Rating 5 stars.

I was completely invested in this book from the first page and became more engrossed by the minute.

A fast paced romantic suspense that has it all sexy bodyguard, stunning starlet, danger, lies, adventure and did I mention sexy bodyguard.

My poor Kindle was virtually smoking with the action coming from the story and the rate that I turned the pages.

Shayla Black delivered in every way with this book. Romance, suspense, tension, devoted to pleasure delivered it all.

Thanks to Shayla Black, NetGalley and Social Butterfly PR for granting me an ARC copy of Devoted to Pleasure. This is my honest review.
