Did you find it difficult to “break into” audiobook narration? What skill/tool helped you the most when getting started?

  •  Once I found ACX it was all relatively easy for me because I had a place to audition, however ignorance was bliss because not knowing the reality about the full industry and only seeing a portion of it when I began, shielded me from feeling overwhelmed.

What type of training have you undergone?

  • I book time with two coaches, Sean Pratt and Andi Arndt – they are AMAZING and insightful and I always leave a session with either of them motivated and encouraged.

How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for narrating?

  • Listening to some of my favorite narrators and reading new work from my favorite authors!  I am on a few ARC teams and those authors keep me motivated because I see how many wonderful books are coming out and it just makes me want to narrate them, which gets and keeps me going!

What types of things are harmful to your voice?

  • Unfortunately coffee, espresso type drinks, you know the ones I love and live for!

Do you read reviews for your audiobooks?

  • I do try occasionally to look through the reviews to see if there is something there that is being said consistently enough that would warrant me to initiate a change, but overall I look at the ratings most, rather than what is actually said.

If so, which ones stand out to you most, positive or negative?

  • would like to think that the positive stand out the most, however, occasionally a negative one can get under my skin if it’s written in a manner that is more of an attack than a review, I don’t mind critique or constructive criticism, I like those because they give me something to work with, but when they get to be just mean those suck.

Who is your “dream author” that you would like to record for?

  •  Kennedy Ryan, hands down!

If you could narrate one book from your youth what would it be and why?

  • I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou

What bits of advice would you give to aspiring audiobook narrators?

  • Find a teacher, mentor or coach and study! Practice, practice and practice some more.

What’s next for you?

  • So much!  I do have some secret project coming up that when they are complete they will come out of nowhere and hopefully pleasantly surprise those authors fans!  But I have my first duet narrations coming out soon Royal Love and Royal Affair by Cristiane Serruya with co-narrator Logan McAllister.

Story: 4

Narration: 4

Overall: 4

I listened to the audiobook version of this book, which has also been released as several smaller books. The switch from boot to book was seamless and the characters penned by Harlow Thomas were interesting, with the main characters being well fleshed out. The world building was reasonably well done, but at times I felt a little confused about where things were taking place.
As is typical with reverse harem stories there is a lot of sex, it is quite explicit but that is to be expected with a reverse harem, so this is definitely an adults only book.
With plenty of twists and turns, suspense and action and an interesting plot this was an enjoyable listen.

Lacy Laurel’s narration was clear and pleasant to listen to and she maintained a good flow to her narration. I do feel this was more narration than voice acting and there is nothing wrong with that, in fact I preferred it for this book. It was always made clear by the writing who was talking and the intensity of situations. Sometimes with erotic audiobooks the narration can sound a little uncomfortable but Lacy narrated those scenes with the same easy to listen to reading style.

I received a copy of this book from Lacy Laurel and Audiobookworm. This is my honest review.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Lacy Laurel. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

ScreenHunter 49

A beautiful, defiant princess.

A renowned, sinfully gorgeous Hollywood actor.

A love affair that is sure to rock the British Monarchy…and the world.

Their love affair began intensely and passionately. Princess Adeline and Josh Jameson knew any future together was impossible—her status as a princess and his standing as a Hollywood heartthrob dictated that. But the heights of pleasure they could take each other to were wildly unanticipated by them both.

Josh’s absolute disregard for Adeline’s status quickly drew her into his hedonistic world. And her perfectly worn mask and false façade captivated Josh to the point of obsession.

The boundaries became blurred. The physical became emotional. Their hearts became entwined.

But a cruel turn of events rips their worlds apart and Adeline is more bound than ever by the protocol and expectations her title commands. The army of royal advisors who guard the secrets and scandals of the Monarchy will go to unthinkable lengths to keep the smoke and mirrors in place…and Josh away from Adeline. She knows the power she possesses comes with agonizing sacrifices. Walking away from Josh devastates her…but it keeps him safe from the corrupt institution that has ruled her life.

Yet Josh refuses to lose the woman who has consumed him so completely, distorted his boundaries, and stripped him of all sensibility.

Will the power of the British Monarchy triumph? Or will Adeline and Josh’s fierce love for each other change the course of history?

“You’re lying to me.” Josh shouts. “You’re lying to yourself. You’re lying to every single person in this fuckin’ world.” He stomps forward, and I blindly stumble back, catching my foot on a stray branch. I lose my footing and fall to my arse in a pile of dry leaves.

I don’t yelp because it doesn’t hurt—I’m numb to everything except Josh—but I do curse to high heaven, further cementing Josh’s claim that I have a vulgar mouth. “God damn it.” With my palms splattered on the muddy ground behind me, my knees bent, I look up at the man looming over me. “This is all your fault.”

“I take full responsibility,” He says. “For everything.”

Everything? “Like what?”

“Your fall. My feelings.” Josh offers his hand, but I ignore it, getting myself to my feet and brushing myself down of dry leaves. “For your feelings,” he finishes softly.

My hands falter midway down my jodhpurs. “I do not have any feelings,” I grate, ignoring the unrelenting…feelings. The warmth, the disappearance of my woes, the heady sensations of want manifesting within me. Me. Him. The potent cocktail of chemistry we create, just being in each other’s presence. The woodland surrounding us is drenched in it. The atmosphere is thick.

I glance up when a few moments have passed, silent moments, and meet his eyes. The amber swirl of desire sparkles madly. My heart kicks. He licks his lips, and I follow the path of his tongue from one corner of his mouth to the other. “Stop,” I whisper, to who I don’t know. Him? Me?

My hands come up to my head, my fingertips pushing into my temples, as if I’m trying to force every reason why this can’t happen to the front of my mind. I look for my father’s words, but I find other words instead.

You will be ripped apart. Eddie will be ripped apart. Your father’s and brother’s memory with be tarnished.

But…I fell so madly in love with a man, and now I am being forced to disregard that. Can I? Should I?

I swivel on my boots and run. I can’t trust my head to talk reason, can’t promise I’ll even listen to my reason if I find it, so I’m depending on my legs to take me away as quickly as they can.

“No thumbs down,” he growls, snatching my wrist and yanking me to a stop, spinning me to face him. My face is grabbed with one brutal hand, and his mouth is quickly on mine. He’s gone low, way below the belt, and worse still, we both know it will work. My universe seems to align, positive and negative working together, our lips glued by an invisible, highly powerful force. Then I feel his tongue sweep through my mouth and explosions of the most calming kind erupt in my soul. My keen hands find his hair and force him closer, our kiss crazed and messy, but so utterly calming and immaculate. I let him guide my backward steps, I let him spin me away from him, and I let him thrust me up against a tree trunk.

The scratchiness of the bark on my forehead doesn’t faze me. I’m too blindsided by the reminder of what we share. Hips pushed into my arse, his wet mouth by my cheek, Josh holds me tightly. Possessively. Like he owns me. And I don’t care. He’s the only thing in this world I don’t mind controlling me.

He reaches to my hips and slowly draws my jodhpurs over my backside. His lazy approach could be mistaken for giving me time to deny him. It’s not. He’s merely prolonging my agony. I want him so badly, and he knows it. His hand on my arse. His mouth all over me.

Bringing my arms up to the tree, I rest my head on them to lessen the risk of grazing my head when he strikes me.

As is always the way when Josh tans my backside, I don’t cry out in pain, but rather moan my way through it, being carried to another world. A world where I am not me, but just his. And then his fingers are between my thighs and he’s massaging me gently, my flesh wet and ready for him. “Some things don’t change,” he whispers, biting at my cheek, circling his fingers, plunging them deeply, scissoring my swollen clitoris. “Thank God. Tell me you’ve missed me, Adeline.”

“I’ve missed you,” I say on demand, my pleasure making it more of a labored whisper than a sure proclamation, as my pulse races and my desire for him multiplies unstoppably. I start to roll my head, my knees becoming weak. And when I reach the pinnacle of pleasure, I feel like every shitty thing in this world pours from my body with my climax, my whole being relaxed for the first time in weeks. I’ve needed this so much. Needed him.

Review By Tasha

Rating: 5 stars.

The first part of the Smoke and Mirrors duology, The Controversial Princess was phenomenal, so I was excited to see where His True Queen would take us..

His True Queen picks up where The Controversial Princess left off. Princess Adeline has been informed that she is next in line to succession and will become Queen, Josh has been warned to stay away by the people that help maintain the perfect facade of the Royal family and staff members have been warned and sworn to silence. A lie has been told about Edward to explain the change in succession and address why Princess Adeline will soon become Queen and no one is coping well with this turn of events!

The smoke and mirrors are in place to maintain the facade of the perfect Royal family.

Adeline watches life as she knew it crumble before her eyes and the only time that she feels remotely like herself is with Josh, who is unwilling to give up the woman he loves to the country she must reign.

His True Queen is still sexy, and intense but it is far more emotional as we see Adeline struggle with being faced with her choice, Crown and Country or Josh and true love.

Jodi writes in a way that always feels like it flows seamlessly. Her books are about passion and love and she captures those intimate moments and the love flawlessly with His True Queen. There is depth and tension delivered at a fast pace, with plenty happening and surprises and stresses coming from all directions.

This is not an easy, breezy romance. It is raw and emotional .  There are surprises and shocks along the way and you can feel Adeline and Josh’s desperation.

There is so much happening in His True Queen and Jodi melds it together so well. Despite there being a lot of information, it doesn’t feel that way. It was a pleasure to read.

For me this was a 5 star read from the first to the last page. It was every bit as good as The Controversial Princess and then some.

Thanks to Jodi Ellen Malpas and Social Butterfly PR for granting me an ARC copy of  His True Queen. Part two of the Smoke and Mirrors Duology.  This is my honest review.

About the Author:

Jodi Ellen Malpas wrote her debut series, The This Man Trilogy, in secret, worried about what people might think if they knew what her imagination was capable of. She was shocked herself. But she finally found the courage to unleash her creative streak and self-published THIS MAN – the first book of the This Man Trilogy – in October 2012. She took a chance on the story with a hero who soon became one of modern day fictions most prolific alpha male characters. Jesse Ward – also affectionately known as The Lord of The Manor, sparked incredible reactions from women across the globe and catapulted Jodi into the world of women’s fiction.

Jodi went on to self-publish the second book in the trilogy, Beneath This Man in Jan 2013, just before Grand Central Publishing, part of the Hachette Book Group, picked up the popular trilogy and the unknown Jodi. The third book of the trilogy, This Man Confessed, took Jodi to the top of the bestsellers lists, earning her the proud title of #1 New York Times Bestselling Author. This Man has since been voted one of the top romance novels of all time.

With so much love, enthusiasm and a thirst for her words from her readers, Jodi suddenly wasn’t afraid of her imagination anymore. She went on to write The One Night Trilogy with the delectable and mysterious Miller Hart, and stole the hearts of her readers once again. Her first stand-alone novel, THE PROTECTOR, released in September 2016 and has since been nominated for a Reviewers’ Choice Best Book Award. Jodi’s next stand-alone novel. THE FORBIDDEN, is set for release in August 2017.

All seven of her published novels have hit the New York Times best sellers list – as well as the Sunday Times list and various international best seller lists. Her work is now published in over 24 languages across the world.

Jodi was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, England, where she lives with her two boys and a beagle. She is a self-professed daydreamer, a mojito addict, is famous for her obsession with Converse, and has a terrible weak spot for Alpha Males. Writing powerful love stories and creating addictive characters has become her passion – a passion she now shares with her devoted readers.

“It’s Bri.” Mia says, both shock and confusion in her voice.

“Yeah, that’s what I said.”

“No, Grady. It’s. Bri.” Savannah says, nodding her head with wide eyes.

Mia’s eyes are narrowed, and Cole looks like he’s seen a ghost.

Actually, he’s not even looking at me. None of them are.

They’re looking behind me.

I turn in my seat to see what they’re all gawking at, and wouldn’t you know it, the object of conversation is right there.

Standing behind me.

Bright green eyes glistening.

Top teeth biting down on her plush bright red bottom lip.

Dark hair down, curling over her shoulders.

To anyone else, she would look like she’s going to a St. Patrick’s Day party, but I know Bri. She has more green and white in her closet than anyone I know.

If I bleed the colors, she may as well paint them on her body. I’m sure it’s at least part of the reason she was chosen to do the story on me. She knows Warrior football better than anyone I know.

My eyes can’t decide which part of her to catalogue first. When I was younger, I was positive there was nothing sexier than Bri Jameson. It’s shockingly apparent nothing’s changed, at least in my reaction to her appearance. I take in the rest of her, wanting so badly to reach out and pull her into my arms. She’s grown into a beautiful woman.

“Bri,” I breathe out her name, stumbling like a moron to get out of my chair. The effects of two shots in less than a few minutes time hitting me more than I care to admit. Surprisingly, I have a low alcohol tolerance. With my size, one would think I’d be able to handle a lot of liquor. Not so much.

“Hi, Grady.”

The sound of her voice causing my heart to speed up triple time.

I haven’t heard it in years.

Except for in my dreams.

Or nightmares, depending on the night.

And it still hits me direct in the gut.

“What am I missing?” I hear Drew murmur behind me only to be shushed by the girls.

“Um. What…” I trail off, clear my throat, look down at the dirty bar floor, shake my head and look back at her, standing up in the process. She takes a small step back to allow me room. She’s a little thing. Only about 5 feet tall. When we were dating, I would have to practically bend in half to kiss her. A lifetime ago. My chin meets my chest when I tilt my head down to her. “What are you doing here?” I ask, finally finding my voice.

She looks away quickly before returning those eyes that always drew me to her. I never could resist her shining emerald eyes. She simply had to flutter her long lashes at me, and I was putty in her hands. “Um, I heard about this incredible band and wanted to check them out since…” Her voice trails off as she glances at the table of my friends and family uncomfortably.

She’s back in town, is what she failed to finish saying.

She swallows and closes her eyes.

I lick my lips, blow out a breath, and wait for her to open them back up.

“Wait. A. Minute.” Cole’s voice breaks through our stare down.

“Bri?” Mia sneers. Or as close to sneering as she gets. “What the hell are you doing here?” I turn in time to see her waddle her pregnant body out of the chair, shove Cole’s hand away from her shoulder and come to stand in front of me, effectively pushing Bri away a few steps considering Mia’s, well, she’s not little at the moment.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize everyone would…”

“Realize what? That we would be here to support Brandon?” Mia crosses her arms over her chest and taps her foot.

I press my lips together to keep from laughing.

Mia’s hardly a threat, but she’s also protective of me.

I place a hand on Mia’s shoulder and she twists her head to peek at me. She raises her eyebrows and tilts her head to the side, narrowing her eyes at me in a silent challenge for me to let her be.

“Easy, mama bear,” I murmur.

Bri looks down at Mia’s protruding belly then in Cole’s direction. She smiles faintly, her eyes glossing over slightly. I doubt if anyone else noticed, but I’ve always been a little more in tune to Bri than anyone else.

“Mom mentioned you were expecting. When are you due?” she asks quietly.

Mia lifts her chin, probably determined not to answer her because she’s a stubborn little shit, but Cole pipes up.

“Two weeks.”

“Congratulations.” She smiles but it’s sad.

“Yup. We got married, too,” Mia says, a hint of snark in her voice, raising her hand to show her ring finger.

“Mia,” Cole murmurs a quiet warning.

“Yes, I heard that.”

Of course she’d heard. Her entire family was there, celebrating with us. I’d swallowed down the hurt all day, enjoyed the moment of celebrating with my brother and Mia. Pushed away the jealousy I felt toward him and Mia, who’d also been friends before they started dating. It had been a little over two years at that point since she had walked out on our relationship. Walked out of my life.

Part of me had wondered if she’d show up at the wedding.

A bigger part of me held out hope it would happen. I missed the hell out of her and as pathetic as it may make me sound, I was still waiting for her to come back to me.

That night, more changed for me than only getting a new sister.

With Bri’s stepdad working for our dads, who own a construction company together, it’s not as if we’re strangers. Our families don’t just know each other, we’re connected in every way that matters. Which leads me to believe she knew Mia and Cole were expecting, too.

“You missed a lot,” Mia reminds her, hurt and anger lacing her voice.

In another time, Bri would have been one of Mia’s bridesmaids. It was a hole that was missing on the special day that everyone felt, not just me.

I was always waiting.

Waiting for her to come back.

Waiting for her to come to her senses.

Waiting for her to love me enough to fight.

“I did,” she nods her head sadly. “I wish I hadn’t.”

Me too.

I can’t take my eyes off her.

Can’t believe she’s here.

Standing in front of me.

Still looking too beautiful for her own damn good.

Life, man. What a mother-effing bitch it is.

“Yeah, well. It’s done,” Mia snaps. Bri breaking up with me didn’t hurt just me. That hurt and pain extended far and wide.

“Mia,” Bri whispers. Raising her eyes from where they’ve been fixated on the floor between us, she looks directly at me, rather than Mia. My gut clenches when our eyes lock, afraid she’ll see the hurt still living inside me. The sound of a chair scraping along the floor behind me startles me, breaking our stare down. She turns and starts to reach out a hand to Mia but pulls back. Rather, she lifts a hand and twists a finger through the thick strands. I used to be obsessed with running my fingers through her hair A flash of déjà vu hits me when I remember she would always mess with it when she was nervous, especially in front of a crowd of people. “I’m so sorry I missed it. I have no excuse. I won’t pretend any of what I did was okay.”

“You’re right. It wasn’t. But like I said, it’s done,” Mia says dismissively.

She doesn’t accept Bri’s apology, but I know Mia. She will eventually. The only reason she’s holding a grudge right now is because she thinks I need her to and because she’s more hurt than she’s letting on.

If Bri wants forgiveness, she’s going to have to earn it.

“So. You’re back?”

Bri takes a step in my direction, and I see realization hit Cole’s features.

He points a finger at her then me. “Wait. Is she the one?”

Out of the corner of my eye I see Drew’s head going back and forth like he’s at a tennis match, but I ignore him. I should introduce them, but I figure they’ll get to know each other soon enough.

Irritation suddenly settles in my veins. Being this close to Bri used to provide me with a sense of calm. “The one, what?” I growl, staring down at the girl I once thought was my forever.

“The one doing the article,” he explains. Cole’s not stupid. He knows she’s a reporter and who she works for. Her showing up after all this time obviously isn’t a coincidence.

I pause a few beats, breathe in deep as her eyes, so expressive and beautiful, blink up at me. “Yeah,” I admit, my heart in my throat. “She is.”

Rating: 5 stars

I should give a couple of content cautions here. 2 female assaults (not graphic) and discussions about eating disorders. Both of these are really well dealt with.

This was a really enjoyable, beautifully written, second chance romance. After a sad start, I thoroughly enjoyed Bri and Grady’s second chance story.

Bri and Grady grew up together and were best friends who began a relationship in their teens but were torn apart by Bri’s mistrust after discovering her fathers infidelity, after his death.

I did initially find myself frustrated with Bri, but she did really grow on me pretty quickly. As the story progressed and her personality, history and willingness to take responsibility for her actions became apparent.

I liked Grady from the start even though I wanted to give him a talking to at some points. Mostly Grady was totally swoon-worthy. He was sexy and said some beautiful things. I would have actually swooned if someone said some of that to me. (Husband- take note!) I did consider sharing some quotes but this book deserves to be read without me giving any of that beauty away!

Sex wise- there is not a great deal of sex but what there is was described in detail and incredibly well written.

A particularly enjoyable aspect of the book is that the relationship is not solely focused on Bri and Grady. When Bri broke Grady’s heart it wasn’t only him that she hurt and turned her back on.  Apart from the romance, I liked the sense of family and different types of love exhibited through the book. Bri’s family made me laugh out loud and Grady’s family were just wonderful. The friends were fabulous people. There were such well considered other characters who all had a part to play.

Seven Minutes ‘til Midnight, an all-new Standalone Rock Gods Romance by Sunniva Dee is coming August 15th!!

A legendary drummer. An outrageous music video… and little me blowing his ever-loving mind in it.

Next thing I knew, my anonymity was a thing of the past.

“Clown Irruption’s smash hit goes from hawt to adult!”— Star Report, April Edition.

The uncensored, all-bared footage was leaked.
And here I was, forced to stare down the same paparazzi lenses the band did.

“Meet Aishe Xodyar, the vixen who made Troy Armstrong reach Heaven on tape!”—Fan Chicks, May Edition.

I cowered behind enemy lines.
Aka joined the band on their worldwide arena tour.
It was another one of my unfortunate miscalculations.
See, Troy Armstrong was formidable.
We were polar opposites, but he still sucked me in like a magnet.

A fragile truce set in between us. Then, a mutual crush.
I had an obsessive nature, but my fixation on him was downright wholesome compared to their new merch girl’s.

“Meet Hailey Pawter, secret stalker, fangirl, and dangerously gifted lookalike.”—Tabloid Minute, June Edition.

As Hailey’s web tightened around us, love in the limelight turned from complicated to impossible.

Add to your TBR –

The music video is loading, and a still picture with the headline, “Deep in You,” is sprawled over Troy’s laptop.

It’s wild, gorgeous, a closeup of Troy’s face thrown backward, eyes half-closed. Through the slits, he looks up at me with reverence, dreadlocks pulling him downward. My hair mixes with his, diagonal stripes of black and red against his mahogany and blond.

Color. Movement. The slow start to a song that will soon become danceable. Biceps explosive with strength, Troy makes his drums snarl, rock-hard torso melting with heat.

Next, he’s lying on a bed. When he sits up on his elbows and sees me, his surprise isn’t an act. It’s real and big as the camera zooms in on his face and Emil, the singer, cries out, “I need to be deep. In. You.”

I ooze revenge and seduction and hate from the doorway. Dressed like my ancestors, I’m every Gypsy woman as I stride to him, toss my hair out of the way, feathers and bangles rocking.

I straddle him, skirt like an oversized, messy flower around me. I push him against the bed, and he lets me.

I thought it was perfect, the way I was taking from him, knowing how he felt about me, knowing how he wanted absolution for what he once did.

I’m moving over him. The way he shuts his eyes, lids trembling with barely retained ecstasy. How his Adam’s apple bobs while I ride him. Our bodies aren’t in focus—just the hint of my shoulder with the neckline sunken too low. Troy’s hand cupping it, thumb stroking, then digging into my flesh with passion.

“Oh,” I say to him, now. “That’s… a lot, isn’t it?”

“Remember this?” Troy stops the video and sends me a playful side-glance. I flush scarlet, although the one who should be embarrassed is him.

“Stop it.” I pull out an earbud and bring my glass to my cheek. Unfortunately, it’s empty and doesn’t offer the cool relief I was hoping for.

“Crazy to see yourself like this, in the exact moment you climax. I’ve never seen that before. Doesn’t look that bad,” he adds, thoughtful.

“Bad” isn’t even close. His expression is beatific. Troy radiates beauty, love, and a pleasure so strong he can’t even keep his eyes open.

“You know what I wish?”

“Do I want to know?” I toss back.

About Sunniva Dee

So you know I’m a writer. I write literary romances that are full of substance and romance. I tend to write in my head all the time, like when I sleep, breath, pet cats, am forced to make dinner, and even while doing my job as an adviser for students at an art college in the South—

I mean…I—I—I write at other times too.

I love international flights when they’re delayed and my Mac and I can dive into a bar. There’s nothing better than an hour or two lost (too quickly) in pages I didn’t know were waiting for me.

I hate schedules, real life, cross-country skiing, and moodiness not inside of me. Not that I enjoy it in me. I’m just used to it, and it feeds scenes in my books, see?

I giggle at everything. I don’t judge easily. People say I’m kind/genuine/shy/stubborn/annoying/aloof/boring, but above it all, I am passionate. A Dragon of the Chinese zodiac and an Aquarius with all-the-air and the brightest color palette. Incidentally, that last fact could be why no one wants to buy the house I’ve got for sale.

But mostly, I love to write.

The Liars Room by Simon Lelic – Review

ScreenHunter 55

Rating: 3.5

Susanna is a counsellor who changed her identity years ago for her daughters protection. She has her own office and a receptionist that she shares with the dentist down the hall.

Susanna meets with Adam, a new client. She has the sense that he is familiar to her but dismisses this initial instinct. The meeting begins kind of awkwardly but not entirely out of the ordinary for an initial meet with a new client. It quickly becomes apparent that this is no ordinary meeting or that Adam chose Susanna as his counsellor by chance. He confesses that he wants to hurt a girl. (spoiler happens) and Susanna finds out that the girl that is in a great deal of danger is her own daughter.

The Liar’s Room is a suspense filled thriller that builds and builds. Predominantly the book is set in one room and is intense and surprising.

You would think that from this, I would give the book 5 stars, but I wasn’t pulled in and invested in the story. It was good and the writing flowed well, I cannot fault that. Unfortunately for me there was something about it- that I can’t put my finger on- that made me reading the story, rather than ‘In the moment’ and when I read a book I want to feel ‘In the moment’.

I was given an arc copy of this book by Penguin Books UK and NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Bossy Nights By Liv Morris – Review

Bossy Nights, an all-new “sizzling and sexy” office romance, from USA Today bestselling author Liv Morris is available NOW!

I’ve landed in New York City with my resume in one hand and my V-card in the other. The resume? I’ll give to any man on the street. The other? Well . . . I won’t settle for anything less than lightning bolt chemistry and so far no one has flipped that switch.

Until I meet Barclay Hammond, CEO of the most prestigious publishing house in NYC and the city’s most eligible bachelor.

He’s commanding.

And my new boss.

The raw attraction between us is off the charts. Late nights together in the city, the looks he gives me across the boardroom table make him impossible to resist. I want him to be the one and he wants me too…

There’s only one BIG problem. Sleeping with your boss is strictly forbidden at Hammond Press.

Who knew losing it would be so complicated?

“Where are we going?” She turns a curious eye toward me, tilting her head to the side. I glance over my shoulder as I guide her a few steps away and around a corner.

“Trust me?” She nods, and I point to the closed door in front of us.

“The cloakroom?” she asks with a teasing smile.

“Shush,” I whisper, twisting the handle to see if it’s locked. It moves in my hand. I’m in luck.

I open the door wide enough for us both to slide inside, then leave it cracked a few inches so a sliver of light streams in. Aside from a few empty hangers on a rod, the room is bare.

“What are we doing in here?” Tessa asks, but her eager eyes give her away. She wants me as much as I want her.

“I need something from you before we join the others.” I lean forward and speak into her ear.

“What’s that?” she breathes.

“This.” I place my hands on her back. She shivers at my touch, following with a sweet sigh. My fingers trail over her velvety skin, lingering at the simple hook connecting her lone strap. If only we had more time. “Your skin’s so smooth and silky.”

I bend down and kiss her lips, and she returns it with a passion matching mine. Tessa links her fingers behind my neck, and we are lost in each other. Minutes later, when we both need to draw in a breath, I move my lips down her neck and over the exposed curves of her breasts.

“I want to taste all of you,” I say against her skin, and feel her pulse racing like mine.

Dropping to my knee, I bring my hands to the back of her toned legs, and trace the delicate skin behind her knees. Her muscles flex and release in anticipation. With a feather like touch, I inch up her thighs, finding the lacy edge of her panties. “Has anyone touched you here?”

“No one,” she blows out between labored breaths. She gazes down at me with eyes full of desire, but there’s a tentativeness in them I can’t ignore. My touches, and the promise of more between us, are new and unchartered territory for her.

I rise to my full height, changing our position. Looking down at her, I wonder if this beautiful woman is ready for what I want to do to her and what we can be together. I have to ease her into things, build her confidence. It should be her decision to freely give into the passion and trust me. Let me make her mine. I won’t push her from the base of the mountain to the peak in one night.

“I want to be the first. Are you okay with that?” I run my fingers over the curve of her shoulders.

“Yes, please,” she begs.

Rating: 4 Stars

Naive college graduate and blogger, Tessa heads to the Big Apple in search of a job that will get her a step up in the literary business – her dream career.

Barclay Hammond is the sexy CEO that she encounters by accident and applies for a place within the publishing company that she doesn’t know he owns.

Despite the age difference and the fact that Tessa is still a virgin, the chemistry between the two is undeniable.

This is a sexy, intense office romance between two great characters. Tessa may be inexperienced and in some ways naive but she is by no means a pushover, she is intelligent and has an inner strength. Bentley is the sensual, experienced older CEO whose parents met when his southern mother was his fathers secretary.

The flow to the story is great, as is the pace throughout. The chemistry leaps off of the page and makes the unlikely relationship believable. The characters are interesting and well developed.

Bossy nights is well written and sexy, with a solid story-line and great characters. I really enjoyed Liv’s style of writing throughout Bossy Nights and would like to read more of her work.

Thank you to Liv Morris and Social Butterfly PR for granting me an ARC copy of  Bossy Nights. This is my honest review.
