It may be Winter Games, but the bedroom games are about to begin…

Competing in South Korea on the world stage is hard enough.

Having to spend the entire press tour beforehand with a woman who hates me?

Karma really is a bitch.

While she’s spent the last four years loathing me, I’ve spent them ignoring the guilt that gnaws at my stomach.

All Mia Salter cares about is that I’m her brother’s ex-best friend and it’s her duty to hate me. The funny thing is, I barely noticed her back when she was trying to keep up with us on the slopes. Now, as both of us prepare to go for gold, I’m seeing her in a whole different light—and it involves a whole lotta different positions.

No one said the path to the Olympics would be easy.

Speaking in Bones (Temperance Brennan Book 18) By Kathy Reichs

Speaking in Bones (Temperance Brennan Book 18)

ScreenHunter_47 Jan. 26 10.52

This is another excellent book by Kathy Reichs. It’s gripping from the start and has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. Another fantastic book in the series.

Because this series follows the career and life of Temperance Brennan it would be best to read them in order, however it would work as a standalone but would hold spoilers for the previous books.

The Blurb…

For every case Temperance Brennan has solved, there remain innumerable unidentified bodies in her lab. Information on some of these is available online, where amateur sleuths sometimes take a stab at solving cases.

One day, Tempe gets a call from Hazel “Lucky” Strike, a web sleuth who believes she’s successfully connected a body in Tempe’s lab to a missing persons report on an eighteen-year-old named Cora Teague. Since the bones in her lab do seem to match Cora’s medical records, Tempe looks into the case, returning to the spot where the bones were originally found. What seems at first to be an isolated tragedy takes on a more sinister cast as Tempe uncovers two more sets of bones nearby.

When she then learns that the area is known as a viewing point for a famous unexplained light phenomenon with significance for a local cult, Tempe’s suspicious turn to murder by ritual sacrifice—a theory thrown into question when Hazel herself turns up dead.

Cocky Bastard by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Cocky Bastard by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

This is a full length standalone novel.

I have read this twice, it’s a fabulous book. It is literally laugh out loud funny but also a strongly written romance. In short this book had the sexy that the title promises but it is also so funny that at times I was really laughing. it also has emotions and depth. I loved reading this.

The Blurb…

From New York Times Bestsellers, Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland, comes a sexy new standalone novel.

He was someone who belonged in my wildest fantasies instead of a rest stop in the middle of Nebraska.

A sexy, cocky, Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive.

When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually-tense nights in hotels and taking unplanned detours.

My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime. It was all fun and games until things got intense.

I wanted him, but Chance wouldn’t make a move. I thought he wanted me too, but something was holding him back.

I wasn’t supposed to fall for the cocky bastard, especially when I knew we’d be going our separate ways.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming

Want to Play?

PJ Tracy

(this book is also published under the title Monkeewrench)

ScreenHunter_20 Jan. 04 14.55

this is an older book but I reread it because they have newer books that I haven’t read yet I am so glad that I did! This book is so well written and has twists and turns and a conclusion that you will not see coming. It’s an outstanding read by this mother and daughter team of authors.and these writers have you on the edge of your seat with their thrilling writing style.

So about the book.

Want to Play? is the first book in P.J. Tracy‘s Monkeewrench series.

The slaying of an old couple in small town America looks like one-off act of brutal retribution. But at the same time, in Minneapolis, teams of detectives scramble to stop a sickeningly inventive serial killer striking again in a city paralysed by fear.

When the two separate investigations converge on an isolated catholic boarding school, decades old secrets begin to fall away. It seems an old killer has resurfaced. Yet still the killer’s real identity remains dangerously out of reach . . .

Want to Play? introduces P.J. Tracy’s cult thriller characters Grace MacBride and Detectives Gino and Magozzi. Follow their journeys in the rest of the series: Live Bait, Dead Run, Snow Blind, Play to Killand Two Evils.

Slouch Witch (The Lazy Girls Guide to Magic) by Helen Harper

Slouch Witch book 1 in The Lazy Girls Guide to Magic by Helen Harper

ScreenHunter_52 Jan. 26 10.58

follows the adventures of Ivy Wilde a witch who’s main interest relaxing. If it were down to her, she’d spend each day on her sofa watching TV, munching junk food and talk to her equally lazy cat, Brutus.

Her quiet life is thrown on it’s head when she accidentally gets pulled into an investigation with Adeptus Exemptus Raphael Winter. A powerful wizard and member of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn’s Arcane Branch.

These books, (3 plus a novella) in the series are great paranormal adventures with a healthy dose of humour.

The Blurb…

Let’s get one thing straight – Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact, she’s probably the last witch in the world who you’d call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she’d spend all day every day on her sofa where she could watch TV, munch junk food and talk to her feline familiar to her heart’s content.

However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she’s yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch, the investigative department of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Her problems are quadrupled when a valuable object is stolen right from under the Order’s noses. It doesn’t exactly help that she’s been magically bound to Adeptus Exemptus Raphael Winter. He might have piercing sapphire eyes and a body which a cover model would be proud of but, as far as Ivy’s concerned, he’s a walking advertisement for the joyless perils of too much witch-work.

And if he makes her go to the gym again, she’s definitely going to turn him into a frog.

Kindred. (book one in the Kindred series by Nicola Claire.)

Kindred. (book one in the Kindred series by Nicola Claire.)

ScreenHunter_53 Jan. 26 10.59

My humble opinion. If you love a strong female lead, sexy vampires and a whole lot of adventure then you absolutely need to read this series. It’s set in New Zealand and follows the adventures of Lucinda Monk, vampire hunter extraordinaire and more special than anyone realises. It is the first book in the series, followed by

Blood Life Seeker

Forbidden Drink

Giver of Light

Dancing Dragon

Shadow’s Light

Entwined with the Dark

Kiss of the Dragon

Dreaming of a Blood Red Christmas (Michel’s POV)

At the moment Kindred is the bargain price of £1.54 on Amazon!

Here’s the blurb…

From Amazon Romantic Suspense, Mystery Romance and Fantasy Bestselling Author Nicola Claire comes a seductive and thrilling tale of vampires and vampire hunters, in a world where love and trust are as dangerous and addictive as a Nosferatu’s bite.

“You may not be aware, ma douce, but not all vampyre have a kindred, some will live out their existence without such beauty in their lives. I have waited five hundred years for you.”

Vampires, shapeshifters, ghouls and magic-users abound in a world where the Norms, (those humans without paranormal abilities), are ignorant of the creatures of the night and the supernatural species that live alongside them.

Lucinda Monk is a bank teller by day and a vampire hunter by night, but she wasn’t always a part of this world. Thrown into a heady mix of powerful people and sensual beings, she’s had to find her way practically blindfolded in amongst the creatures of the night.

Lucinda, though, is a capable and realistic kind of girl. Her motto: Never Show Fear.

But there’s something different about Luce. Something those creatures she hunts want. So, in order to stay one step ahead of the enemy, she has to let the enemy in. In all his compelling, seductive and delicious ways.

Sleeping with the enemy has never meant so much before. But can she trust him?

From the urban streets of the city to the dark alleys and sinful bars that promise a wickedness a girl from the farm has never before been exposed to, Lucinda gets drawn irreversibly into the dark side of life.

And if the Master of the City has his way, she will always be his. For eternity.
