Yeah. That one.

Well, I found him.

I’m a writer who has spent years searching for the perfect muse.

To make him fall in love with me.

This should be easy. I mean, I have issues, but above all, I’m a great catch.

Handle With Care by Nina Croft – Cover Reveal.

“Heat, heart and plenty of happy sighs.”

— Avery Flynn, USA Today bestselling author

Handle with Care, an all-new romantic standalone from Nina Croft is coming July 30th, and we have the gorgeous new cover!

2018-0682 Nina Croft b01

What if all you want is the one thing you can’t have?

First grade teacher Emily Towson always does the right thing. The sensible thing. But in her dreams, she does bad, bad things with the town’s baddest boy: Tanner O’Connor. But when he sells her grandmother a Harley, fantasy is about to meet a dose of reality.

And then he goes and calls her “sensible”…

Tanner can’t believe sweet Emily is standing in his shop. Yelling and waving her hands and looking so god damn sexy he’s having trouble focusing. He’d spent two hard years in prison, with only the thought of this “good girl” to keep him sane.

He really should send her away…

Before either one thinks though, they’re naked and making memories on his tool bench with apparently the oldest condom in history. Now Tanner’s managed to knock-up the town’s “good girl” and she’s going to lose her job over some stupid “morality clause” if he doesn’t step up.

But can this bad boy teach his good girl they’re perfect for each other in time?

About Nina:

Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time huddled under the blankets dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.

At the age of eighteen, in an attempt to turn dreams into reality, she headed south in search of the sun. She quickly picked up the perfect husband along the way, and developed a taste for red wine and holidays in warm places.

Soon holidays weren’t enough, and together they volunteered to work in Africa where they both discovered a love of traveling and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever the money ran out.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain where they bought the small almond farm they now call home.

No electricity, no neighbors, no chocolate shops, but on the plus side, stunning scenery, a vineyard to make her own red wine, and far enough away from anywhere to satisfy Nina’s hermit tendencies. She shares the farm with her husband, and an ever increasing number of animals, including Piggles, a three-legged Vietnamese pot-bellied pig.

Nina now spends her days riding her mare Gencianna under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

She still travels, but usually only in her imagination, and can often be found lying under a fig tree, wine in hand, plotting stories of love in faraway places.

Nina believes love can come to anyone, anytime, anywhere and her books reflect this.

Teaser 3-not-like-everyone-else-jennifer-leigh-ya-mystery-standalone-Harper

The wind rushing through my hair, the rush of adrenaline as everything moves faster than time. The momentum thrusts me forward, making me feel as if I am on cloud nine. That is what I tell myself every time this happens. And you should know this happens a lot.

You see, I am not like everyone else, but you will find that out soon enough.

I live in a small house on the edge of the woods with trees and bushes surrounding me. It is rare that anyone ever comes out this way, for there is a rumor going around that if you go too far you may never come back out. Honestly, I like it much better that way. I get everything to myself. And no one can see what I am doing out here.

The days creep into nights and I lie awake in the open field that is deep in the woods behind my house. I have never felt more alive. On nights like this, I dream of the next one, the next victim.

Yes, I did say victim. After all, I did say I am not like everyone else. I am a killer just so you are not confused. But do not tell anyone, or you may be next.

There is this guy I have been following for a few weeks now. There is something about him that makes me go crazy. He is average in height and weight. But maybe it is his brown hair or even his irresistible brown eyes. I think about him non-stop and I can’t help but want to make him mine. All mine.

There have been plenty of times that I imagine what I could do if I brought him to my house. To play my little games with him. To show him a side few get to see of me and never get to tell anyone about. That is the good thing about the woods. They are my cover. My protection.

The missing person’s signs that frequent the streets are people I got to know well. Their loved ones may miss them, but I sure as hell do not. They all are the same. They cry and scream to get me to stop, telling me that they would do anything to stop me. I do not play like that. Once I have started it only ends in one way. It is truly orgasmic when I am finished with my work.

One day I will find someone that can take the pain.

Now leave me alone. I need to keep focused. However, do not think you have seen the last of me. And remember do not tell anyone our little secret. We would not want to see what would happen to you after all.

Chapter 1

The sun slowly rises on the edge of East Remberton Road in the town of Ryton where I Teaser 1-not-like-everyone-else-jennifer-leigh-ya-mystery-standalone-Ryanfind myself startled awake by the slither of sunlight poking its way through the curtain. It has been another long night that I would rather just forget. I toss in the light-green satin sheets as I open my eyes to see the mess around the room. Surely the aftermath of yet another fight.

“I cannot believe that he would do this again,” I say. I look to see that the spot next to me on the bed is empty. I reach my hand onto my nightstand to pick up my cell phone. Wondering if he even bothered to text me. “This is ridiculous. No calls. Nothing. He never comes home anymore, and yet I’m supposed to be fine.” I hit the call button.

I go to the bathroom, manoeuvring around heaping piles of clothes, furniture, and other objects that have found their home on the floor of the bedroom. The call goes to voicemail for the third time. “How can I be this stupid? Why can’t I find someone that wants to be with me?” Frustration settles over me, as I slam my phone against the granite countertop. I look into the mirror that hangs above the sink only to see ruffled brown hair, a smear of make-up, and a small cut on my cheek.

“There’s no way I’m going to be able to explain this one.” I sigh as I look at myself in the mirror. A sad expression looking back.

Even though I don’t remember Corey hitting me, it’s the only thing that can leave a house in shambles and me all bruised up having to explain. The last few times I had a cut or bruise visible, I made an excuse for how it got there. Bumping into the counter or a cat scratch. although we don’t have a cat. But after a while, no one listened to those reasons and instead I began hearing people talk about me. Those same people never approached me though. Instead, I was all alone trying to get through the day before going back to Corey.

The thing about Corey is that he wasn’t like this in the beginning of our relationship. He was the nicest guy ever. And not like those stereotypical nice guys that every girl wants to be with. The ones that are just too damn sexy and ends up with a bad girl type of guys. Corey was a nice guy that wasn’t sexy, but not ugly either. It wasn’t until we moved in together that he changed and not in a good way.

Everything bothered him. The house, the mess, me. Everything. There was a bug on the wall, and somehow it was my fault for letting it in. The counter had a spot on it and it was my fault. From there it just kept escalating. Things were not clean, dinner not cooked, the bedroom a mess. I got the blame for all of it. Now I’m miserable; I don’t know what to do.

My friends always told me that Corey was a loser. That something wasn’t right with him. I never understood why until now. Completely separated from everyone that meant anything to me, and a couple lumps and bruises later I now understand.

I must get out.

The guilt eats at me as I remember all the fond memories. I pick up this photo and that which are lying all around the house, thrown in last night’s battle. Then I pick up a photo of when we first started dating. Holding hands walking down an autumn-scened pathway. We both looked so young, but I remember that day all too well. My mom thought it would be cute to take pictures of the two of us as soon as the leaves started changing colors. Although reluctant, I did think the idea was cute and convinced Corey to come along. The wind decided to work its magic as my mom started snapping the picture and it looked as if Corey and I were enveloped by a whirlwind of leaves. I look at the photo that caught the perfect moment. I smile at the memory, but quickly snap back to reality and head to the bedroom to grab what I can of my things.Teaser 2-not-like-everyone-else-jennifer-leigh-ya-mystery-standalone-killer

The more and more I pack, the more nervous I become. What if Corey were to come back this second? There is no way I could explain what I am doing. So, I kick my ass into gear and push myself to move faster than ever to get everything out.

And without any sign of Corey, I leave the house, our house, without even thinking twice.

Author Interview

Author Image- Jennifer LeighQ: When did you start writing?

A: I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. I clearly remember loving when we’d have to write stories in school. Then I would go home and write on Notepad. It was a lot of fun and definitely shaped the reason I love to write today.

Q: What is your writing routine like?

A: I’m terrible with my writing routine, if I’m being honest. I usually only write during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) or Camp NaNoWriMo and edit the other months of the year. When I’m focused enough to write, I set a timer for 30 minutes, curl up under a blanket, and write as much as I can. I also never go back to edit while I’m writing a story because then the story would never get done.

Q: Where is your favorite place to write?

A: I love writing in bed. It’s the easiest place to curl up with a blanket and some comfy pillows.

Q: What is your favorite thing about writing?

A: Writing is the best escape from reality. It helps get thoughts and feelings out using a creative outlet. Writing has been the one thing that has always been there for me and I’m grateful that I can use it to be creative and make myself feel better when life gets stressful.

Q: Where do you get your ideas?

A: Everywhere! Life is full of ideas. I definitely get a lot of ideas in my dreams. Though, sometimes I find that I piece together bits of my dreams and real life.

Q: How long does it take to write a book?

A: Being that I usually only write during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) it takes me about 30 days to write a book or at least the first 50,000 words. It takes me much longer to edit. For editing, I take around 9 months to a year to go through multiple rounds of editing.

Q: Why do you use a pseudonym?

A: When I first decided to self-publish my first novella, The Stranger I Knew, I needed to put a name on the cover. I didn’t feel like my last name really worked for an author name, so I ended up using my middle name. I like the flow of it and when I get married, I won’t have to worry about changing it.

Q: What gave you the inspiration to write Not Like Everyone Else?

A: Ryan, my main character, came to me one day with her story. Though she was very vague. The more I wrote her story, the more she revealed to me. This is one of the rare stories, that I didn’t have a single clue what would end up happening, but I love the way it all turned out.

Q: Who is you favorite character in Not Like Everyone Else? Why?

A: My favorite character is Harper. She is such a bubbly and strong character that I can relate to. I had a lot of fun writing her and all of her quirkiness.

Q: What is the strangest thing you Google searched for Not Like Everyone Else?

A: Definitely having to break out of zip ties. Now, I can’t say any more or it would spoil the book. Just so you know, there is a lot of information on the topic and there are even videos to show you how it is done!

Q: Any fun scenes edited out of Not Like Everyone Else?

A: A baking scene. It was seriously out of character for Ryan to be so fun and playful and a baking competition was so out of place. As I read the scene, I ended up laughing so hard because it was like a completely different set of characters were making an appearance in the book.

Q: What advice do you have for other authors/potential authors?

A: Follow your dreams. It’s easy to put aside writing for everyday life, but you should never give up if you truly want to be an author. It’s a lot of work,. Yes. But it’s all worth it when you get to see your cover for the first time and hold a physical copy of your book.

First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes baby in a baby carriage. Just not necessarily in that order….

Braxton: I should probably be dead or in jail right now. Instead, thanks to some tough love, I worked my ass off and now I own a string of tattoo parlors throughout the Pacific Northwest. And yet the one thing I’ve always wanted—a family—still seems out of reach. When my best friend gets married, I’m just hoping to blow off some steam with the super-hot maid of honor. But after Cara Thompson tracks me down to tell me she’s pregnant, she’s more surprised than I am when I tell her I’m all in.

Cara: For the first time in my life, I’m living for myself—not for my parents and their ridiculous expectations. I gave up on my MBA, dropped out of the Ivy League, and moved to Portland to pursue my dream of becoming an artist. And what’s the first thing I do? Get knocked up. For a tatted-up sex god, Braxton Henley seems way too eager to “be there for me.” Is this guy serious? Maybe. He sure is patient. Because he won’t back down until I admit what I know in my heart: that our one night stand might’ve led me to the one.

Rating: 4 Stars

I would start by describing this book as a reverse romance. It begins with a one night stand that results in a pregnancy. Cara has never had a one night stand before and panicking, leaves before Braxton wakes up and things get awkward. Things got a whole lot more awkward when she went to his tattoo parlour to tell him she was pregnant and threw up all over his office!

What follows is a sweet, sometimes sexy, ultimately funny getting to know you romance between two fabulous characters.

Things do not progress smoothly, there are a few gasp moments but ultimately this was a complete pleasure to read.

If you are looking for a relatively quick, fun, enjoyable read with it’s share of ups and downs then I think this may be the book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this really well written tale.

I look forward to reading more work by Stacey Lynn

I received an arc copy by Stacey Lynn and Social Butterfly PR and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I quickly take everything off and drape the paper sheet over my lap, leaving my socks on, and when I’m ready, the edges of the sheet tucked under my thighs and backside, Pam knocks on the door.

“Ready?” she calls as she’s already pushing open the door.

“Yup.” I sound like I’m about ready to croak, and Braxton’s deep, rumbling chuckle worsens my rattled nerves. He kissed me!

I raise my hand to my mouth and as my fingertips press my lips, they’re taken away, gripped in Braxton’s warm hold. He smiles down at me knowingly and I force my attention on Pam.

She pulls the internal monitor out of the drawer, along with a bottle of lubricant and a condom, and Braxton’s grip on my hand turns almost bone-crushing.

“Is that—”

“Yup.” I cut him off.

“Now you see why I wanted the external one,” I mutter quietly.

I can’t look at him. My cheeks are on fire, and for some absolutely insane reason, other parts of my body are warming and this should not be happening at my midwife’s office.

“So,” Pam says, turning around and back to business. Except it’s hard to take her seriously as she waves what looks like a massive vibrator in her hand. “We’re going to insert this inside of you.”

“Holy shit,” Braxton mutters. And God, kill me. Please kill me now.

If Pam hears him, she ignores him as she steps toward me, and pulls out a set of stirrups from beneath the table. “I’m going to need you to lie down, Cara, and spread your legs, and slip down to the edge of the bed for me.”

“I feel like I’ve heard this before,” I say, unable to stop myself. My filter has evaporated along with my self-respect and all of this is so absolutely humiliating.

Pam pauses, glances at me and then at Braxton and nods, understanding. But I swear, as her gaze sweeps down Braxton’s arms, even she blushes. Which is great . . . my midwife thinks my non-boyfriend baby daddy is hot.

“I feel like I’ve said this before,” Braxton says, and both of our eyes whip to him. My gracious. He’s smiling, shoulders shaking like he’s holding back the world’s most boisterous laugh, and it’s all I can do to not kill him while he’s standing there, glancing between the monitor-slash-vibrator and my spread legs and I can’t hold it in anymore.

“This is embarrassing.”

Pam is back to business, already spreading the condom over the phallic-shaped instrument, and then she drizzles on the lubricant.

Braxton’s breath brushes over my cheeks. His dark locks tickle my temple as he whispers, “I feel like I should be offering to help with this.”

“Shut up,” I grit, my stomach muscles clenching from trying not to die or laugh. “This isn’t funny.”

“Oh. This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, I’m not going to lie.”

My fingers squeeze his hand and Pam is in front of me. She holds a small black box in her other hand and the tip of the wand against my center. “I’ll go slow, and it might be cold, okay?”

“Sweet Jesus,” Braxton whispers. “I don’t know whether to be terrified or turned on right now, Cara.”
