Day 14:Tell us your deal breakers.

I have 2 big ones. Books that have a lot of focus on childhood abuse. I don’t want to read something that truly disturbs me. I have read those ‘I got through it- here’s my story’ books and they horrified me so I avoid books where that is a focus.

The second deal-breaker for me is religious books. I am not religious and having been made to go to church as a child (until I refused and shared my beliefs) I just don’t enjoy any aspects of religious books.

Both of these things sometimes come up in the books that I read but they are not the main story and they are not referred to extensively.

Day 15: Who are your book blogging mentors?

There are a few and they know who they are. I started blogging without a clue, and have been amazed at the support and help bloggers offer each other. So, rather than name one blogger I will name a Facebook Group: Book Bloggers Group It is so full of support and guidance and one of the people that I consider my mentor runs that group. Check out her beautiful blog Books and Bindings

We are a community, not a competition and it’s a great community.

This concludes the 15 day book blogger challenge. (I did the last 2 today as I have quiet a few reviews coming up) it’s been fun.

Day 13: Describe one underappreciated book everyone should read:

Kindred by Nicola Claire

This is the first in a series (and it’s companions series’ ) and I have loved the whole thing. Next weekend I will be reviewing the latest book in the companion series.

Here is Goodreads blurb..

From Amazon Romantic Suspense, Mystery Romance and Fantasy Bestselling Author Nicola Claire comes a seductive and thrilling tale of vampires and vampire hunters, in a world where love and trust are as dangerous and addictive as a Nosferatu’s bite.

“You may not be aware, ma douce, but not all vampyre have a kindred, some will live out their existence without such beauty in their lives. I have waited five hundred years for you.”

Vampires, shapeshifters, ghouls and magic-users abound in a world where the Norms, (those humans without paranormal abilities), are ignorant of the creatures of the night and the supernatural species that live alongside them.

Lucinda Monk is a bank teller by day and a vampire hunter by night, but she wasn’t always a part of this world. Thrown into a heady mix of powerful people and sensual beings, she’s had to find her way practically blindfolded in amongst the creatures of the night.

Lucinda, though, is a capable and realistic kind of girl. Her motto: Never Show Fear.

But there’s something different about Luce. Something those creatures she hunts want. So, in order to stay one step ahead of the enemy, she has to let the enemy in. In all his compelling, seductive and delicious ways.

Sleeping with the enemy has never meant so much before. But can she trust him?

From the urban streets of the city to the dark alleys and sinful bars that promise a wickedness a girl from the farm has never before been exposed to, Lucinda gets drawn irreversibly into the dark side of life.

And if the Master of the City has his way, she will always be his. For eternity

I read Kindred and have been a huge fan of Nicola Claire ever since. The characters are so well developed. The story is fast paced, romantic with regular surprises and constant adventure. It is one of my re-reads!

Lex

I came to L.A. with dreams bigger than me.
To learn from the best choreographers in the business and secure a professional dance gig working for Hollywood’s elite.
Everything was going according to plan—until I was literally shoved into the arms of the one man who could make or break my career.
Come to find out, it wasn’t my career I had to worry about.
It was my heart.

Theo
Everything about Alexandra “Lex” Quinn screamed amateur, save for the way she moved across the dance floor.
She was athleticism and grace, precision and passion, and she had a stage presence I couldn’t tear my eyes from.
I wanted her…on my team, in my bed.
There was only one problem…
I couldn’t have both.

Day 12: How do you fight blogger fatigue?

I don’t think I’ve ever had blogger fatigue. I guess that choosing which books I read helps as I only do what I want to do on this blog. (the same goes for Megan)

Some days when I am really tired and have taken on a lot of books to get through, I feel stressed and cannot envision how I want to lay out a page, on those days I look at my previous posts for inspiration.

We try and have a sense of continuity with our posts but occasionally throw in a tag or challenge purely for fun.

Maybe we haven’t been blogging enough to get blogger fatigue.

Day 11: Show off 5 of your best blog posts

(Apologies, I have really hurt my back and sitting at my desk is painful, but did not want to give up so close to the end so I have shared links)

I don’t know that these are my best but they are a pretty good view of the sort of posts that we do.
